Think of Eminence Points (EP) as experience for you, the player, whereas Experience Points (XP) are for your character.

Eminence is accumulated by demonstrating exceptional roleplay and are awarded by Dungeon Masters and fellow players. It can also be obtained by helping the Haze community. Points can be used to generate items for roleplay hooks, spawn placeables, summon monsters, give XP to other players, provide additional perks for in-game permissions, and unlock character customization options. EP carries over, so players maintain their Eminence even after a character's death.

Perks Blocked by EP

It’s important to understand why certain classes, backstories, languages, and sub-races are locked behind EP:

  1. Eminence Points - to a degree - demonstrate a player’s roleplaying ability. We’re not saying we want “the best” roleplayers playing these restricted classes, but we believe that the characteristics of certain classes deserve to have the proper attention they should. A Paladin, for example, acting in a manner that’s not Lawful Good can sometimes be hard to stomach. Especially in a hardcore roleplay community. There are also game balancing reasons why certain classes require EP; for example, Rangers have access to perks available only to Rangers in-game.
  2. It makes things hard. If the world were swimming in Clerics, Permadeath wouldn’t be so frightening.
